Quarley Village Autumn Clean up

Sunday 23rd November

Despite the best of intentions of the Quarley Parish Council to help the countryside look clean and rubbish free, Mother Nature decided not to co-operate and the day turned out to be remarkably wet and consequently the number of volunteers was sadly small, but understandably so.

As usual the area around the slip road coming off the A303 was the site that really needed to be cleared. This was accomplished by two of the volunteers. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to clear the area on the other side of the bridge, so no improvement was possible there. We trust that during the Spring Clean up, this area can be included. Bush Road produced a surprising amount of discarded rubbish, mainly in the form of plastic bottles, cans and empty chocolate bar wrappers and sweet bags. Obviously a few of the cars passing along the A303 turn off for a drink and snack and then throw away the empty results. We can but hope that who ever these people are, they will turn over a new leaf and will not litter the countryside.
